Learning About Catholic School Students' Post-Pandemic Academic Performance
Join Bill Ward from the National Center for Education Statistics and Mike Fassbach from the NAEP Support and Service Center at Westat to learn about Catholic school students' post-pandemic academic performance. Bill and Mike will present results from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) 2022 assessments comparing Catholic school and public school student performance in fourth and eighth grade mathematics and reading.

Michael (Mike) Fassbach

Michael (Mike) Fassbach is a Senior Study Director at Westat, a research organization in Rockville, Maryland. Mr. Fassbach began his work at Westat in 2011 supporting the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). In his current role as NAEP Private School Coordinator, Mr. Fassbach provides outreach and support to private school organization leaders in an effort to increase private school participation in NAEP. Prior to his role at Westat, Mr. Fassbach taught third and fourth grades in Montgomery County, MD. Mr. Fassbach maintains his teaching and administration certificate, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Master of Science degree in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in administration from McDaniel College. Mr. Fassbach resides in Montgomery County, MD and enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
